FALL CSA WILL START SOON!

Posted on September 21st, 2020 by Sheila Dicks

Greetings,

We are excited to start our Fall CSA soon and wanted to let you all know what we have been up to.

Our team has put in countless hours and weeks of preparation to get the Fall vegetables off and running. Clearing summer veggies, cover crops, bed preps, compost and fertilizer applications. We also put down many rows of reusable landscape fabric to heavy weed pressure areas. Heat loving Zucchini and green beans were planted in hoophouse. Fall seeds like lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi, collards where put in trays over a month ago and we started planting them on the 7th, hoping they would survive the endless Alabama heat. We did lose a few seedling to the heat, also lettuce babies and early direct sown seedings to the tropical storm that went through last week. But feeling very fortunate because many of our farmer friends on coast lost everything. We do what all farmers do...start again! Started more trays of lettuce and planted more baby asian greens, radishes and carrots seeds. Our passion for growing keeps us going and we push forward.

Thank you for supporting local small farms and enjoy the cooler weather in forecast this week, I know we will!
