Week 5 Summer is here!

Posted on May 24th, 2020 by Sheila Dicks

We have really enjoyed the cool temperatures of the longer than usual spring, however Summer has stormed its way in and the heat is here! Hard to believe we are at the half way mark of our 10 weeks Spring/Summer Session. The tomatoes and cucumbers will be in your shares soon and the greenbean plants are full of blooms. I have included the information on our coffee source again for those members who did not have a delivery last week.

Nathan and Stacey Mills are the owners of The Brother's Bee Coffee Roasters and live right here in Shorter, AL. We are excited to offer you this freshly roasted coffee as a add-on in your weekly share and ask Stacey to tell us about their story...

We are a small family business. We love coffee and thought it would be interesting to start roasting our own. Once we tried freshly roasted coffee there was no going back. We roast in small batches, just a few pounds at a time, and monitor each batch ourselves to ensure proper roasting. We order the green coffee from fair trade small farms that strive to give back to their communities. One of our favorite places to source from is Genuine Origin. Our varieties we offer change based on what is available from these different farms. We work to deliver a quality product that has been responsibly sourced from beginning to end. My husband sources the beans, and we both roast. The kids and my father-in-law help with roasting and packaging, so it is a family job. We enjoy setting up a booth at local events and selling coffee and getting to know people and figuring out what coffee each person will enjoy. Our dream would be to open a coffee shop with open mic nights - maybe someday!!
