pease porridge cold?

Posted on June 9th, 2018 by John Eisenstein

I'm not sure this got sent last week, so I'm trying again. I thought I'd share with you a picture of our pea field.  You'll have to turn your face 90 degrees to the left to get the full effect, but hopefully you'll be impressed.  It looks even larger when you are picking it.  We have a good supply this week, but it is a short season, so eat up.  Also the summer squash/ zucchini is in in a big way.  The spring onions were getting a little long in the tooth, so they aren't available this week, but we have now the first of the "pearl drop" fresh bunching onions, which are even better.  Here is a picture of some pea plants close up, complete with flowers and almost ready pods:

I love the curly little tendrils the most.  I think this picture is also on its side.  These are edible podded snap peas.  We also have edible podded snow peas planted, but no shell peas, since I am extremely lazy and don't like to shell them.  Of course,  I suppose if I gave them all to you I wouldn't have too, but this is too logical a thought for me, and now my brain hurts.
