Farm happenings for Week of July 12th

Posted on July 12th, 2021 by Kelly Morris

PICK UP HOURS: Pickup hours this week and every week are Thursday 3pm-7pm, Friday 11am-7pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. Despite what day you chose when signing up for your share, you are welcome to come during any of our open hours. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before closing to give yourself time to gather your veggies.

FARM UPDATE: As more and more crops come in, we'll have small quantities of several items available. To make sure the folks who want these crops get them, we're not putting them in shares automatically so make sure you log in to see what's available for swapping!

PYO FIELDS: The Pick Your Own fields are overflowing in abundance! There are 2 beds of cherry tomatoes that are ripening quickly. The first bed is Gold Nugget. These are ripe when they're dark yellow to orange. The second bed is Washington Cherry. These beauties are ripe when bright red. Be sure to pick some basil to go with your tomatoes! The Ground Cherries are also ready. Lift up the plants to pick these fruits up off the plastic. I've found the best way to harvest is to scoop up a whole bunch and then sort out the bad ones. These are ripe when the fruit inside the husk is golden. See the picture for examples of ripe tomatoes and ground cherries. We also have beans as a PYO item this week. We did our best to keep the pathways weeded, but the plants got very floppy. Lift up the bean plants to find the beans hanging down below. They are loaded! And don't worry if you trample some plants, there's plenty out there.

EXTRAS: This week we have eggs, mushrooms, bread and juice available to purchase as one-time "extras".

See you soon!

Katie, Elizabeth, Brad, Christina, Kelly, Matt and Nate
