Farm Happenings for February 28, 2024

Posted on February 25th, 2024 by Mark Kastner
Our nursery does enjoy the lengthening daylight hours (today at 11 hrs, 1 min!), and we all know not to plant outside despite the warming temperatures. We are still doing infrastructure repairs and improvements during the warmer days and transplanting indoors while it's windy and not so nice. The new baby plants are doing very well, as I attempt to get one short crop from the big high tunnels before the main fruiting crops go in, mainly, Tomatoes, Peppers, and Cucumbers. The Tomatoes and some Peppers are scheduled for transplant beginning April 15, about 7 weeks away!

As I try to hold prices that are being squeezed by rising costs, please try to return the CSA wax  boxes for cleaning and reuse or recycle. My cost is about $1.50 new, and that times over 200/ month, that translates into a lot of extra Fresh Produce!

I have a part time opening for a person to help with our social media efforts. Working mostly from home, it's a pretty good gig and pays pretty well, too. Last year's intern, Jessie, was great and now graduated and happily employed in Illinois and doing great. Incoming Analyssia has aggressive work and learning objectives planned, and I want to give her every opportunity to succeed. I think she will be that good! Where does all of this energy come from?! Thank you, again.
