Farm Happenings for July 29, 2023

Posted on July 26th, 2023 by Mark Kastner
We grow a lot of different Tomatoes, and our intern, Jessie, oversees Tomato production and the different ways we grow them. Monday morning I will introduce her to the Horned Tomato Worm!

Of particular interest is the San Marzano Paste or "Roma" Tomato that we grow in two successions that populate our in demand Salsa Kits. Jessie is doing a great job caring for the plants and is growing A LOT of Romas, and has learned that they take longer to ripen than most! To compensate, she will supply our Salsa Kits with substitute varieties and we will offer Hot, Medium, and Mild versions at the markets this week!

Wednesday I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids at 12:00noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00 PM. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up and scheduled home deliveries, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the Farmers Market on River Street, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. I hope to see you soon!
