Farm Happenings for April 5, 2023

Posted on April 2nd, 2023 by Mark Kastner
An Op-Ed in Cain's Detroit News noted that POOR DIET is the number one cause of chronic disease in the U.S. As I reviewed the status of the wonderful plant life in our nursery and incubators, it amazes me that we have regressed to that sad statistic. Chemical free, Nutritionally Superior and Great Tasting food production is my main driver and I am ready for another Season!

All the flats for transplant sales are germinated and looking great. The Brassicas like Cabbage and Collards, and Broccoli are ready for our beds right now. I have nice Broccoli in the high tunnel, but the coming warmer weather may force an earlier harvest. This week I'll start planting early Potatoes, and next week, Snap Peas and hopefully Onions!

This week I am at the Family  Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Indoor Farmers Market after that, 3:00-6:00. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and home deliveries, and Saturday, I am at the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery, 11:00-12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!
