Farm Happenings for January 12, 2022

Posted on January 9th, 2022 by Mark Kastner

Good morning!

As I make up for the miscues from our first week after the holiday break, we have improved the wash pack room, begun to bulk up on some popular items, and update/ streamline our order preparation practices.

As we enter the hard grasp of the Winter, I look at the coming season from a little different perspective. First, although challenging, I only have 8-10 weeks of tough produce harvest and delivery sessions left to go. Secondly, as a four season grower, I have the opportunity to do what I do: deliver fresh, nutritious, chemical free local produce when no one else can or  is willing. Lastly, everyone at Hillcrest Farms  takes great satisfaction in the planning and production schedules required to ease into Winter, and glide into Spring before we can even break ground for potatoes in April! (We will actually have a few tomatoes in the ground before potatoes)!

Depending on the harvest windows, I hope to offer more at the market, and CSA Membership than I list on today's attachment. This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the Allen Street Farmers Market, 3:00-6:00 after that. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, Saturday, I  will deliver to our Grand Ledge Friends in the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery, 11:00 - 12:00 noon. I hope to see you soon!

Thank you,
