Farm Happenings for February 6, 2021

Posted on February 3rd, 2021 by Mark Kastner
Today we  are 3 minutes away from the magical 10 hours of daylight needed to  trigger the return of plant life to photosynthesis, and meaningful production. Bear with me as I scour the hoops for fresh produce to carry us over to that new crop inventory in a couple of weeks!

The large demand for Microgreens really caught me by surprise, and I more than doubled the weekly input. The turnaround is about 17 days, so we should begin to catch up this week. I will carry the deficits forward until everyone receives their back orders.

Thank you all for the very successful 2020 season! I think that I am at the point where I need to put the customer wants and needs in focus, rather than the production guidelines needed to pay the bills. I will make the CSA more affordable than ever, start the online Farmstand Beginning March 1, and schedule crop production with the consumer in focus. Please help me with suggestions on Produce that you want more or less; I am adding two more hoops in order to expand and accommodate you, the valued customer.

This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids on Wednesday at 12:00 noon, and the parking lot behind the Tannin Italian Restaurant, 4:30-5:30 after that. Thursday afternoon is farm pick up, and Saturday morning in the parking lot behind Flour Child Bakery, 11:00-12:00  noon. Please  see the attached menu and let me know if I can help!

Thank you,
