Farm Happenings for August 12, 2020

Posted on August 9th, 2020 by Mark Kastner

Hello!

I note in my journal: plant melons 2 weeks apart, in three successions next year. We did experience some weather related issues, but we sold 30 melons in twenty minutes, and more than 50 overall at the Allen Street Market, I did one planting , and now I am out of melons for a whole year!

Anticipating cooler overnights, we'll start planting flats of lettuce and other greens for Fall and Early Winter harvest. Riley will double his hours to help us out before he leaves for school. Alanna is with us for one more week (you can meet her at Allen Street). She is very good at helping me with Baby Lettuce Mix transplants, and I hope to get one more bed in before she leaves for college.

This week I am at the Family Fare parking lot in Eaton Rapids at 12:00 noon on Wednesday and The Allen Street Farmers Market on Michigan Avenue after that. Thursday afternoon  is farm pick up, and Saturday we are in Grand Ledge for the Market on the Grand, 9:00-1:00.

Please see the attached menu for what we offer this week and let me know if I can help. I hope to see you soon!
