Halfway through summer

Posted on July 28th, 2023 by Stacey Taggart

This is week #7 and we're halfway through our summer season.  And this is when it starts getting exciting because everything starts ripening at once!  This week we get to add beets, rutabaga, tomatillos, and basil, plus Mason's going to whip up some yummy green salsa too.  We were so disappointed earlier in the season because a vole (or voles) ate much of first crop of beets and rutabaga (they left the turnips alone, interesting...) but finally our second round is ready!  We've never struggled with voles before but they loved all the snow and felt quite content living off fresh garden produce this spring.  Thankfully, it seems like Zoey has conquered most of them as we're not seeing as much damage from them over the past few months...  There's always something exciting happening in the garden.  Haha! ;)
