Farming Happening for Summer #8

Posted on July 30th, 2021 by Mason Taggart

Halfway through summer and looking toward fall... we harvested all the garlic and are pleased with our haul this year!  Garlic will be for our fall and winter shares so you can look forward to that.  And speaking of Fall, we're getting ready for our fall planting, which is our last major planting of the year. We seeded out another 1600 or so plants which are currently in our seed starting area. We will be preparing beds for that in the coming week and will be doing all of that transplanting in the next couple of weeks. Beyond that there will be another couple of small plantings of lettuce and other things that go to seed quickly, but then that will be it for the year! The end of planting is kind of a milestone for us each year because we've been planting about every two weeks for 6 months, and there's a real sense of completion and satisfaction on that last planting.

As far as this week's share, we have added more tomatoes and peppers including more varieties of hot peppers as well as eggplant and cilantro.
