Speeding Into Summer!

Posted on July 12th, 2019 by Stacey Taggart

Hi! Welcome to Week 8! Here's a little about what's been going on here at the farm. Farming is an ebb and flow type of work environment and we're definitely in the flow part of that! We're battling some insect pests, the squash bugs especially! We've got the kids helping us pick squash bugs and eggs on a daily basis hoping to stay ahead of their onslaught! We tried the cash for bugs approach first, but it's better when we just all work together! The tomatoes are taking off like crazy and we're so excited! We have about 500 plants and we're working on caring for them and getting them trellised. It's very rewarding to see them go from a sprawling shrub to tended and orderly. We're continuing to do our standard succession planting and have seeded out our fall crops and will be planting those in the next week or so. Thanks again for all your support! It is indeed our pleasure to be your farmers!

Firstly, with regard to the crops, the heat is really helping things along and we're going to be able to put peppers on the list for next week (week 9)! We are also seeing a red tomato here and there and so hopefully they will also be on the list for next week!
