A hot July day deserves a cool drink. Order mint and make Minted Lemonade or a Mint Julep.  Mint Drinks   Each drink is based on Simple Syrup, which is made by boiling 2-cups of sugar with 1-cup of water.  You can keep this in the refrigerator until needed.

Lemonade 1 serving

  • 2 Tablespoons simple syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 5 Mint leaves

Crush mint leaves into syrup mixture using spoon or muddler.  Add 1-cup water and lemon juice.  Mix and pour over ice.   Add a long sprig of mint prior to serving.

Mint Julep 1 serving

  • 2 teaspoons simple syrup
  • 5 mint leaves
  • 1 jigger (1.5 oz) bourbon
  • 1 oz whiskey

Crush mint leaves into syrup using a spoon or muddler.  Add 1 jigger (1.5 ounces) bourbon and mix.  Pour over a glass of crushed ice and add 1 oz whiskey 9or more bourbon).  Stir.  Add a long sprig of mint prior to serving.

And of course, you will need a potato salad. You can grill some salmon or shrimp and make a dressing with Bronze Fennel Sauce. Find the recipe at  Feathery Fennel-Yogurt Sauce W/ Salmon or Shrimp
