Farm Happenings for September 9, 2020

Posted on September 6th, 2020 by Claudia Frey

Good Sunday morning!

Tomatoes continue to ripen!  Tomatillos are beginning to be ready to harvest as well.  We will place tomatillos in some shares this week, and some next week.  Anaheim, bell and serrano peppers are ripening, with jalapeno, escamillo, and pablano not quite large enough to harvest yet.  Some Napa cabbage is ready this week!  We will place some in shares this week, and some next week, so that you receive a nicely formed Napa head.  They are coming in large, around 3-4 lbs, just as a warning for your refrigerator space! Numerous other cabbage varieties will be harvested soon.  The last of our kohlrabi will be in some shares this week.  It has been a good kohlrabi year.  We hope you all are enjoying their mild brassica flavor in your dish preparations.  Their greens can be combined with other greens for stir fry or sauteed greens. Last week large shares received our first cucumbers, this week small shares will get cucumbers, along with some dill!

We are grateful for the heat!  It is helping bring in those heat loving vegetables!  Have a wonderful week, and as always, thank you for your support of local, organic farming.

Claudia, Jim, Stephanie and Emily-- came home for a visit this weekend.
