Farm Happenings for October 16, 2020

Posted on October 14th, 2020 by Naomi Martz

APOLOGIES for the delay in getting this sent to you!  We had some technology glitches on our end.  We've extended the cut-off for swaps to Thursday morning at 7am to give you some extra time to customize your share :)

What a wild and stormy week! From beautiful sunshine to raining cats and dogs and a few slushy snowflakes, it's been a weather rollercoaster on the farm as we scurry around getting things ready for a freeze.

Thanks to everyone who has jumped onboard for the upcoming late season boxes and taken the leap for 2021. We had over 40 sign ups through Farmigo in the first 48 hours! Seriously, as a farm we really are feeling the love. Our whole team made a big push this past week to get everything harvested in time for Thanksgiving weekend and before the rain started. Heavy rain can cause crop damage in certain cases, such as making cabbages split due to quick growth, and the salad taking a beating, so we like to be as prepared as possible to make sure there are no gaps in your food supply :)

We are looking forward to sharing some different squash varieties in the coming weeks, to keep colour and creativity in your kitchen even after the summer crops wrap up. Be sure to check out recipe ideas in the harvest list email, or ask us if you need inspiration!

Thank you for being on this locavore journey, for welcoming the bounty of our fields into your household, and for being part of our farm-ily.

Sincerely,

Naomi and the Four Beat Farm team
