Spring has sprung!

Posted on June 5th, 2020 by Naomi Martz

Wahoo!  First spring harvest shares!  Thank you for embarking on this local eating season with us.

We're aren't going to sugar-coat it (because who needs sugar when they've got salad)...we've been really busy.  Between getting the fields worked up, seeding new crops, transplanting seedlings, keeping the weeds at bay, and the odd construction project to keep life interesting, things are full speed ahead.  Our crew has been giving their best effort, and we are so excited to start harvesting greens destined for your fridge.

The fields are looking good.  The hot weather in May meant a bit more bug damage than usual, and we appreciate your understanding your understanding if some of your salads are a bit "hole-ier" than usual.  Don't panic, they're organic.  And delicious.

Highlights at the farm this week?  We got a new farm cat!  Her name is Sally.  She's an assertive adult, and her and the farm dog Keisha are providing endless entertainment as they learn how to tolerate and love each other.  Also, we had a lunchtime radish-tasting survey with our farm crew to make sure they were all juicy and tender at every size.  We gave them a 10/10.  Except Keisha who ate half of hers and then got distracted by the cat.

Never a dull moment at the farm.
