Farm Happenings for October 15, 2019

Posted on October 11th, 2019 by Sarah Rider

Here we are, beginning Week 42 of 2019 and we've got a full 20 weeks of CSA behind us. That means just 6 weeks to go of the main season share. In the past few weeks, we've been working on something brand-new to us, and we're excited to share the details with you! This winter we'll be offering a Winter CSA, which will go from December through early spring (likely mid-March). The share will consist of cold-hardy cooking greens like kale and chard, along with lots of tender salad greens from the high tunnels. Members can also expect roots like carrots, beets, turnips, radishes, potatoes, sweet potatoes and more, along with butternut squash and alliums like garlic, scallions and onions.

You'll receive more details about the Winter CSA very soon! In the meantime, we hope you're enjoying all the delicious bounty that the fall has to offer.

This past week at the farm was bittersweet as we are saying goodbye to Addison, our awesome pack shed manager. Many of you know her as the face of the Farm Stand and the CSA pick up! Addison came out all the way from Washington and is now headed back home. She has been an incredible asset to the Flying Plow Farm team this season -- the walk-in cooler was always tidy and veggies perfectly clean because of Addison! We are so grateful for the time that she spent here and wish her the best as she travels home. Thank you, Addison!

Mark your calendars for Wild for Salmon at the farm!
