Farm Happenings for June 23, 2020

Posted on June 19th, 2020 by Sarah Rider

I can't believe the solstice is here.

This means soon we'll be picking garlic from the field to cure in the greenhouses. And, following the garlic will be the onions which also cure in the tunnels before we store them.

Added to your share options this week is summer squash and zucchini. We'll be distributing them as a mixed box for the first week at least because our quantities are still a little limited.

The turnips in the share will be coming from cold storage. The spring season for them is just about over, they'll come back again in the fall.

Carrots are back this week. Beets will still be an option too. Beets and kohlrabi in bulk have been added to the extras in case you want to make kvass or borst.

Next week we hope to add red potatoes in the share, just in time for the 4th.

Have a good week,

Tom
