Farm Happenings for April 10, 2020

Posted on April 7th, 2020 by Kelly Peters

Potato planting on Sunday was a great success! We got 5 x 100’ rows planted of all kinds of fun colors and varieties. Purple Majesty, 3 types of fingerlings, Mountain Rose, Red skin, Nicola, Harvest Moon, and a PCNW Heirloom- Makah Ozettes from Slow Foods Southwest Washington.

Potatoes are one of my favorite crops to grow, mainly because harvesting is like digging for gold and gems! We usually do a volunteer day during the potato harvest because we harvest manually with pitchforks and hands.

Other farm projects include planting spinach and greens, getting the irrigation set up for the season, and up potting peppers and tomatoes.
