What's in the Box?

I love kohlrabi.  Honestly, I exclusively eat it raw, but the internet is full of recipes for kohlrabi in cream, roasted kohlrabi and the like.  My suggestion: peel it, slice it, sprinkle it with salt and go to town.  It's got such a satisfying CRUNCH!

It's the last week for ginger, and it's available in limited quanitites.  It's nearly the end of cauliflower season too.

One more week until sweet potatoes.

We've been contacted by a local certified organic apple farm and are going to trial offering some of their apples starting in November.  Pretty exciting stuff!  I was planning on getting all 1sts, but am wondering if I should get some seconds too for a lower price.  Shoot me a message if you have thoughts on this firmlyrootedfarm@gmail.com

ON THE FARM

The weather early this week was such a gift.  We couldn't stop grinning at the sunshine and Ruby stripped down naked to run around the carrot patch.

Most of the carrots are out, we hope to finish them up on Monday.  After that we'll turn our attention to the rest of the storage veggies: the parsnips, storage radish, beets and cabbage.

I'm hoping the snow in the forecast on Wednesday is a terrible mistake but I know it might be truth.  Here's hoping it doesn't stick, that nothing freezes and explodes, and that our fingers stay cozy.

That's all for now and happy eating until next time,

Tamara
