Fall Back + Holiday Market Saturday!

Administrative Details:

Welcome to week 6 of the winter farm share. Thank you for being with us!

As always, a quick reminder to return your cooler bags and clips. We are short quite a few of both and love sending out our veggies in style; help us out?.

FARM CRAWL MADNESS!!!!

The last Eat Local Huron Farm Crawl of the season is on Saturday (November 12th) and this time it comes with a mini Holiday market spread between the two locations!! You can visit Robinson's Maple (84548 St Augustine Line, Auburn from 10-2) and Meeting Place Organic Farm (86016 Creek Line, RR 1 Lucknow from 10-4) for guided tours, activities, and some early holiday spirit.  PLUS you can meet the Firmly Rooted Team at our market table where we will have veggies (of course), some beautiful homegrown Christmas Decorations, grow-your-own-microgreen kits, and some special art work by our talented staff members.  Both locations are a must-see and the pop-up producers will have plenty of samples and specials to help you get a head start on holiday eating and gifting.

Eat Local Huron is a not-for-profit working to connect local producers to customers in Huron County.  The Farm Crawls are a great opportunity to meet some of the wonderful farmers, growers, makers, and bakers that make our county SO delicious.  Tickets are by donation/pay-what-you-can or free so make it a day out for the whole family!

Can't wait to see you there! (The event is rain or shine and full of cozy holiday feelings)

What’s in the Box?

This may be the last of our friends cilantro, dill, and chard so grab these babies this coming week.

We harvested our Jerusalum artichokes this past week. Here are 25 things to do with these nutty, crisp veggies that are known by so many names including Canadian Potato, ground apple, and sunchoke.

On the Farm:
We are super excited to be part of the Eat Local Huron farm crawl this Saturday at Meeting Place Organic Farm in Lucknow from 10-4 p.m. As promised, I will be bringing willow stars and microgreen kits, along with a selection of fall veggies.

We are sad to see that the Indian summer is ending, as we’ve enjoyed spending the fall soaking up the sun instead of slogging through the mud. That being said, farming is really just an act of capturing sunlight and storing it, so as you prepare and enjoy your veggies this winter picture the sunshine that caused them to grow so well and taste so good, and know that you are savoring the light.

Cheers and happy eating until next time,
Farmer Tamara
