What's New At Green Ridge Acres?

Posted on May 22nd, 2021 by Angela Bedient

Hello everyone!  Thanks so much for your veggie box orders!  It's already time to customize your next box.  Be sure to set preferences so that you have one entered for all the new, up and coming crops!  We hope you are enjoying everything thus far.  Don't forget if you can't be home or answer the door, let us know whether to leave the crop box or if you'll have a cooler out.

A note from Joseph Fox, Green Ridge Acres

Hope you all are enjoying this summer weather!  We certainly are!  Our two year old daughter was helping tie up our tomato plants when she noticed a small green tomato.  She said, "apple!" and before I could stop her she picked off one of our biggest tomatoes. We let her have that green tomato, but told her, "no more."

Maybe our first tomatoes will be ripe in two to three weeks.  We planted them in the greenhouse, right in the soil!  The only difference in these tomatoes and field tomatoes is the protection from the weather provided by the greenhouse.  You should be enjoying our beet greens by the time you read this.  The greens taste just like the bulb and would make a good addition to your salad.

Things are drying out again so we should be able to plant more snap peas and green and yellow beans.  Hay making is starting, which will make us very busy the next two weeks!

See you next time!

Joe
