Farm News August 19

Pictured Above: Shadow and the lovely ladies from Pescadero Veterinary Clinic.  We are soooooo blessed to have an amazing Vet right here in Pescadero to come out and check on all the farm critters.  Shadow and Teddy our livestock guardian dogs got their check up as did Banks and Nellie, the Home Ranch police/welcome committee.

Some of you may remember the feral kitten we caught and adopted as our Pack Out rodent control chief.  She's grown.. though is still pretty mini.  Turns out she has FIV (like a kitty HIV) and likely FIP, a virus that will likely be her downfall. Our vet says most of the feral cats in town are positive :(  But.. she's living the good life as long as possible and is quite the mouser.  Her name is Finley. Turns out she doesn't really like to have her picture taken.

Product Updates:  We're started picking apples and the Ubileen Pears have been picked and will go out starting this weekend.  Yields on many of the trees are down from previous years, but we still have some lovely looking fruit. Cucumbers are pretty much done and we opted not to do any later rounds this year as often powdery mildew hits them in this climate at this time of year.  Peppers are going to come on in a big way very soon.  We've started offering poblanos, purple islander, green bells and yellow gypsy bells.
