Tomatoes and Basil and Melons Oh My!

Posted on August 10th, 2022 by Teresa Kurtak

Charlie proudly dragged home this astoundingly large zucchini.  Not sure what we'll use it for, perhaps a lawn ornament, perhaps an inanimate pet.  Either way it occupied a bit of his time trying to wheel, carry, and drag it home.

A couple quick notes this week: 'Sarah's Choice' Canteloupes are on!! The season is usually only a few weeks, so enjoy them while you can.  They really are excellent and so much better than a grocery store canteloupe that was likely picked a week before being truly ripe.  Dry farmed Early Girl tomatoes are starting to come in in bigger volume- enough for everyone.  I'll likely start offering cases for those of you who want to can or freeze next week.  Sadly, the diva cucumbers are barely producing after having been hit by bacterial wilt and powdery mildew so we've taken them off the list.  We are offering lemon cukes this week, though I'm not sure if they will be available next week or not.  We're putting purple String Beans in the boxes but regular Green and Romano string beans are available as swap items.  Just a few Ubileen Pears left and next week we should be able to begin offering a few new types of apples.  It's harvest time y'all!
