pictured above: Your first round of potatoes are looking great and even have a few little baby sets. Grow potatoes grow!!

REMINDER- we can't hold your shares beyond the pick up times!  Please pick up your shares by the end of the pick up window.  We can't ask our generous site hosts to hold product as it can lead to a big mess/pest issues for them.

FARM NEWS: Can you believe it?! We had a frost this Saturday morning (5/21)  That's gotta be the latest frost we've had since we've been here (2009). Doesn't look like it killed anything thank goodness.  We've hit a milestone for the Spring- all the single succession plantings are in the ground.  Woohoo! Now we race to keep them all weeded and watered.  We're putting the first summer squash into boxes this week.  There's not enough for every members, but there are a few hundred shares to go around.  Strawberries are picking up steam.. but still a bit thin.  Yes, they're HUGE!  That always happens when they first start producing in the Spring.  The size will go on as the season progresses.

Re-usable Produce Bags!! (Please return them :) asap)

Coming to your boxes next week... Reusable, washable mesh produce bag.  Yay!  But this will only work with your help

**please return your mesh produce bags & leave them in the empty grey bins when you pick up your subsequent box.**

Last year we surveyed all of you to see where we could improve and how to sync what we're offering with what you all actually want.  Many of you really would love to see less plastic in your shares.  While we haven't figured out how to avoid having to bag things (in order to get portions equal, maintain quality, and make packing easier), we have found some affordable re-usable mesh produce bags that will hopefully arrive in the coming week.  Yay, re-usable washable packaging instead of one time use plastics!!  But... while a plastic bag costs about .01 cents, the new bags cost over .60 cents.  I know it doesn't seem like much but that's increasing our packaging costs by 60 times. We need your help to make this work- please return them promptly so we can keep re-using them.

Bon Appetit!
