Farm News for November 19, 2020

Posted on November 14th, 2020 by Teresa Kurtak

We've finally reached the end of our CSA Season.  This is the last box folks!  The 2021 CSA starts mid-May next year.  We aren't doing a Winter CSA this year (we're just too pooped and need a bit of a break).

REGISTERING FOR NEXT SEASON

We will be running auto-renew for those who have signed up for that on December 2nd.

Log in to your account and update your auto renew settings by clicking on Settings in the main tool bar, then Auto-renew in the drop down menu.

Once the auto-renew runs, you will have 2 weeks to make changes to your "order" before the system charges the card on file. You will be able to alter add ons as well as cancel altogether.  We will then open up general registration for 2021 to everyone else. While there won't be a Winter CSA, we will likely start up accepting orders for market pick up via our online "Farmstand" post the New Year.  We'll reach out to you first ;)

Here are the next season's details for you to review:

  • 2021 CSA season will start on May 20, 2021.
  • The season runs for 27 weeks, ending the week before Thanksgiving.
  • We will not be running a Winter CSA this year, but we will begin offering boxes for order week to week (for Farmers' Market pick up) via our online "Farmstand" starting after the Holidays depending on availability.  We will let you know when we open the "Farmstand".
  • Your pick up location, day and time will all remain the same unless you change it.
  • We will continue to offer Steadfast Herb add-on shares as well as Flower Shares.
  • City Bees honey will be offered weekly as an optional extra instead of being a subscription.
  • We will continue to partner with Markegard Family Grass-fed for meat, but we are re-working how their meat shares work, so those will no auto renew- stay tuned.
  • Egg Shares- this year we are trying to simplify the egg shares by offering a May-August share (of which we have a total of 160 doz/week available) and a second share which will be Sept-Nov (of which we have a total of 60 doz/week available). Full season subscribers from last year will be auto-enrolled in both. Extra late season egg shares will be available Dec. 2nd for you to add to your subscription.  We will continue to offer excess available eggs weekly as extras.

A huge thanks to all of you who stuck with us through this unprecedented season.  What wild ride!  We don't know how we would've survived this topsy turvy year without all of you.  The CSA has been the saving grace of our farming season as restaurant sales evaporated and market sales were greatly reduced with one market never re-opening.  We're still in a bit of shock over the unending stream of emergencies that just haven't seem to let up, but it's looking like the CSA sales and increased sales to Good Eggs may have more than made up for all the other problems income wise.  We'll see once we finally do taxes ;). Here's wishing all of you a healthy, cozy, and happy Holiday season.
