Farm Happenings for April 23, 2020

Posted on April 19th, 2020 by Teresa Kurtak

Well, we've passed the 1/2 way mark on the "Pre-Season Delivery" Season.  Three more weeks after this one till the main season.  Warning, if you want to sign up and haven't, you probably should now as we are very close to hitting our 500 member cap.  We are still trying to figure out whether to add more locations and another mid-week route.  Honestly we're just so busy trying to keep up that we haven't had time to sit down and try to hash out whether it will work.  We are in the process of trying to hire a CSA/Sales Manager to try to help (if you know someone who might be right for that job, please send them our way).

What else is happening on the farm?  Well, cucumbers just got transplanted, dry farm tomatoes go in this week and the greenhouse tomatoes are slated to get grafted.  First round of potatoes are up and we're starting to fill in fields with transplants.. and our raspberry canes arrived Friday and will go in this week (Raspberries have to be replaced every 2-3 years for best performance).

NOTE ON CARROTS!  This week (and the next couple weeks) those of you who get bagged carrots will either be delighted or dissappointed by the cutest baby carrots you've ever seen. We are down to the last beds of winter planted carrots and Spring planted carrots are at least 6 weeks away. Because of weeds we had abandoned and didn't thin these beds thinking we would just till them in, but with very little product in the fields right now we've been excited to discover that there are carrots in those beds.. they're just mini.
