Thanks for a great winter season, it's a wrap!

We're excited to be busy packing up your last boxes for the Winter, just as we're starting seeding in the greenhouse. I have to say this was an amazing winter as we more than doubled the number of families we were able to feed through our box program, and we've pulled through with almost complete selection still too! We've listed all we've got for you. I've got a good variety of sizes listed this month and that's a weakness of Harvie. It looks like some of you who love (e.g.) Napa are getting multiple sizes, so watch for doubles of other sizes and make sure you want them or swap for something else.

We've noticed the last box of the season often gets lots of families ordering extras to save up towards next month. While we've kept many of the different veggies till May/June here at the farm, once they're washed I don't like to expect more than a month from them. We've washed all of yours fresh today. For longer term storage, just use a plastic bag with a few holes so that condensation doesn't build up inside. Too wet, and the veggies will start to mould/rot and too dry they'll start to go soft. For anyone living nearby, I'm happy to fill custom orders and will be back at the Belleville Market hopefully in May if not late April trying out some spring crops. We're toying with a spring CSA from March to May for greenhouse goodies... so we're trying out a few different crops this spring!

For those of you that have been enjoying the flours from Jubilee, they keep very well in the freezer for few months and we're happy to say they're here to stay! We'll be offering their goodies again with our summer boxes just as their bees will be busy pollinating our veggies. These days they're busy tending their sugar bush and getting ready open their farm to visitors for Maple in the County - for anyone living nearby it's March 30/31 and always a wonderful time to visit the county. They're offering up a buckwheat pancake breakfast 9am-2pm at 73 White Chapel Road and I can't wait.  If you're needing a restock in between this order and June, Jubilee also offers a delivery service into Belleville and Picton which is worth checking out as you can also order their delicious grass fed beef, breads and more!

Finally, an extra special thank you to each of you for enjoying veggies with us this winter. Being able to feed you through the winter keeps four of us on our regular work schedules year round and is no small feat for a small farm! We hope you've enjoyed the challenge of eating locally, tried some new veggies, and created some family favourites based on local winter veggies. We started storing veggies through the winter because we found the local options in grocery stores were nothing like what we could grow, and we're so glad you've all joined in on the journey with us. We look forward to feeding you again next winter, if not over the summer ;)

Enjoy the tastiness,

Heather, Steph & the Fiddleheads
