Soups and Salads ~ Summer registration

Posted on May 19th, 2022 by Heather Coffey

Who loves their hakuri turnips? It's your lucky day, the first sold fresh juicy crunch to grow this year, I'd love to send you each a bunch! They are much milder than radishes, with just a little kick. They're one of the top "what was that on we really liked" vegetable which no one remembers the name of... so go ahead and try them. They're best raw, although they can also be cooked briefly but go quite soft. Slice them into a salad, or cut into veggie sticks. We've got some lettuce and spinach to form your salad base too. With this cold spell we've also featured our soup & mash potatoes, the Sangre makes a glorious bed for a saucy tofu, steak or fish. We love mixing green garlic into our mash for flavour! Whether you're roasting, souping or grating into salads we've got the staples covered from carrots to watermelon radishes, squash and sweet potatoes. Rutabaga fries are an old favourite, with just a little pepper and olive oil. You can spice them up with cumin and cayenne, or go mellow with lemon juice and thyme.

While we're eating from the greenhouses for now, we're busy planting out our first rounds of summer veggies in the fields. Registration will be opening soon, you'll all get an email announcement in the next few days!
