Dear Fall, we're ready! Are you?

Posted on September 16th, 2018 by Heather Coffey

Along with gorgeous sunsets comes the shortening of the days, and this year we're feeling like we're in great shape for it!  Are your preferences set for our fall crops? I've been busy this week double checking that everything is listed and pictured as we sell it... and with the exception of watermelon radishes and kalettes everything is now there. Some of these I hadn't set up in the spring when you would have set your preferences... so take a peek in "my preferences" to make sure you've picked a happy face for each of the veggies on my list. I was able to separate things like napa and winter cabbages, because I for one go through very different quantities of the two. After a summer of filling boxes, I'm appreciating that teasing some veggies apart is definitely worthwhile - much easier to get everything filled the way you like it into your boxes rather than making you all log in to swap them ;)

The winter storage crops are all growing well, and we're even getting some early ones out to you now - we started harvesting kohlrabi last week, and this week the first of our watermelon radishes. While our field tomatoes slow down their production, the greenhouse is still going strong. I love seeing vegetables in their full glory this time of year, nice big leaves of kale and chard, and lovely big beets!

I'm also glad to report that the long awaited carrots are growing well, and patiently hand weeded last week. Still a little ways from harvest, but we'll be digging the first of our potatoes this week for you :)
