Cooking Squash

"We know vegetables are good for us, and they are so varied and beautiful and delicious. Whether you eat mostly plants or have butter on your toast every morning or bacon in your greens, enjoy your food!"
- Katherine Deumling, Founder of Cook With What You Have

I am a farmer and I can grow great food. I know what it takes to produce food that we put on our table. It doesn't come from a shelf at the store. It comes from years of learning, careful planning, painstaking seeding, nurturing seedlings, transplanting with care, feeding and caring for the plants, watering, protecting, harvesting, cooling, packing, and transporting to mention just a few of the steps our farm team makes for every single bite in your basket.

I want to make sure you don't waste any food.

In 2019 I started including the customization model so that we could have a conversation about what you want to eat, and what I should plant balanced with what we could bring to harvest.

Starting with the first basket in 2010 we included delicious recipes. In 2016 we brought Katherine's perspective as a chef and seasonal eating advocate to our program.

CookWithWhatYouHave is included with your CSA membership. Katherine wants to help you become THAT cook who can make a meal out of what is on hand that folks gobble up.

It's more creative and adaptable than meal plans - it's 900+ recipes that are easily searched by ingredient for inspiration and great meals with seasonal eating in mind.

Vegetables - Raw, cooked, for breakfast or dinner ...make the most of your farm share and learn the methods, how to substitute, and make killer dressings.
Pantry - how to be well-stocked so that cooking is more fun and frankly, realistic.
Prep videos - is that kohlrabi intimidating? Watch Katherine's video to learn how to break it down safely!
Recipes - the flavor is the draw, but nutrition and feeling good are the bonuses when eating real food. See ways to enjoy every bite in your farm share!
