Farm Happenings for September 13, 2019

Posted on September 11th, 2019 by Jacquilyn Williston

One of the things I love about being an organic farmer is all the wildlife I get see. Of course some of that wildlife can be a pain in the neck but most are harmless or even beneficial. I have found monarch caterpillars, tree frogs, and so many bumble bees in my garden. I fostered a few patches of milk weed and in 3 summers I have gotten to watch our monarch population go from zero sightings to seeing them almost everyday.  We also discovered a bumble bee nest in our yard! I accidentally stepped in it and only realized when a saw some bumble bees aggressively flying around me. I can't tell you how excited i was to see that and to add it to our bumble bee watch sightings.
