Farm Happenings for October 12, 2020

Posted on October 9th, 2020 by Andrew Schwerin

This is a wonderful time of the year when many veggies are real happy with the weather and the lessening bug pressure. Radishes and turnips have been doing well. The lettuce last week was great. Its nice to have some greens again, that isn't kale. Spinach is starting, and we still have a good supply of baby greens this coming week. The sweet potato harvest is over. We have started fertilizing beds for next year, and will be covering with mulch this coming week; they will have a warm blanket for their winter sleep.

Since there are no butchers available for my sheep this year, we will be butchering the ram lambs and cull ewes ourselves. They can be sold by the half lamb or whole lamb, and we can cut it up/grind it however you prefer. Contact me if you are interested. Price will be $6/lb hanging weight (weight after being skinned and gutted) with an hourly fee for the processing.
