My name is Jamie and I’m an apprentice this season. This week on the Dickinson College Farm:
On Wednesday, Sara (an apprentice and my yurt-mate!) and I packed up the truck for Farmers on the Square. The storms held off, allowing us to sell out of carrots and slice up several pizza orders. We’re rounding out the week by cleaning the greenhouses and harvesting chickens for our educational lesson!
On Monday, the veg team harvested lots of snap peas, carrots, and leafy greens for our CSA members and market customers. Cheri then led the squad in an afternoon boot camp - I’m still sore from all the planks!
On Tuesday morning we laid straw to suppress weeds in the melon field, plucked suckers from tomato plants, and weeded the potato fields.
