Farm Happenings for October 22, 2021

Posted on October 18th, 2021 by Will Nelson
Despite the gloomy and damp overcast weather that has settled over the valley for the last week and a half, there have been a lot of bright spots at the College Farm.  One highlight in particular was hosting Chef Fernando Saralegui to Dickinson College.  Chef Saralegui spent most of last week at the college engaging with students, faculty, and community members on the topic of food and his journey as a chef, restaurateur, and food system innovator. His weeklong residency culminated with two farm events, a crowd-pleasing paella dinner with the Clarke Forum and as guest chef at the College Farm's FIRST in-person pop-up restaurant, GATHER since February 2020.

As our guest chef for GATHER, Chef Saralegui collaborated with farm staff to develop a menu that reflected seasonal ingredients and then worked alongside students to prep, make, and expedite a delicious four course meal.  Though we were all beat by the end of the weekend, the opportunity to get to know Chef Saralegui and work alongside such an entrepreneurial foodie was absolutely inspiring!  Kudos to all the farm staff who worked their tails off to help make both events a success!
