Tuesday CSA: Dickinson College Farm Field Notes for Week of October 21st

Posted on October 18th, 2019 by Mary Silva

Don't Want A Good Thing to End?!

We invite CSA members not already signed up for the "CSA Fall Extension" option of our 2019 season to consider the opportunity to extend their weekly supply of fresh vegetables from the Dickinson College Farm!

The CSA extension runs six additional weeks (November thru mid-December). Our Harvie system is set up to automatically renew for our  "Fall Extension".    With this in mind, please note these important details.

  • Harvie will auto-renew CSA members not currently signed up for the additional six weeks on October 22nd.
  • Payment method is the same as the member used on the first order. Members can update what payment option they'd like to use for the extension. My Profile--Edit Profile--Choose new payment option--Save. If credit card information has changed, please update in the Harvie system.
  • Members can change their place of pick up for the extended season if desired. Otherwise, it will remain the same. To change place of pick up, Go to "My Deliveries".
  •  Members who do not want to be enrolled in the Fall extension MUST opt out of auto renew.  Members can do this thru their Harvie account before October 22nd. Go to My Profile --Edit Profile -- toggle off Auto renew --Save.
  •  If you already signed up for the CSA extension season, no need to do anything!  Just enjoy fabulous produce into December!

Please contact farm@dickinson.edu with any questions.

Field Notes:

It’s really feeling like fall here on the farm as of late. We’ve been starting work as the sun rises and bundling up to take on the weather! This week on the farm we focused our efforts on planting next years garlic! We’ve sold a lot of our garlic as seed to other nearby farms and saved the rest for our own planting and sale for the rest of the fall and winter. It was all hands on deck for this day long project to get the 500 pounds of garlic in the ground. Otherwise, we’ve been preparing the fields and greenhouses for the winter!

Remember if you should choose not to continue, you must take action and turn off the Auto-renew function by editing your Profile in the Harvie system by October 21.   If you need any help with this, please contact farm@dickinson.edu
