Farm Happenings for September 24, 2021

Howdy from the Dickinson College Farm!

It has been an exciting week around here with lots of new beginnings! First of all it’s finally starting to feel like fall!!! Over the weekend, our Saturday crew did a huge harvest of our winter squashes and another bountiful harvest of butternut squashes earlier this week. We can’t wait to share this harvest with you all so you can roast some up and make lots of soups this fall! This week also brought new beginnings in the lower barn, as our new packing house coordinator, Cheri, started on Monday. She has learned so much already this first week, and is handling all of this new information like a champ. We are so happy to have her on our crew packing CSAs, making dough, canning veggies, and much much more! This was also a great market week for the market team! Despite the stormy weather that blew into Carlisle Wednesday evening, we sold all 95 of the pizzas we brought to town including our new eggplant parm special! We also brought new veggies to market including our napa cabbage and fall broccoli which market goers were ecstatic to see at our tent again. All in all it was a great week, and I’m excited for the continued transition into the fall!
