Farm Happenings for August 27, 2021

Posted on August 23rd, 2021 by Will Nelson
When thinking what to write about in my field notes this week, I started with what made this week strange but instead I realized want to talk how this week was normal. We continue to harvest plenty of tomatoes, squash, and corn. The processing of garlic following its month of curing in the barn has been a consistent filler of down time as well. As I find myself uncertain about what my life will look like in the coming months, I am pleased with the reliability of the work and the people I am surrounded by every day. I know I will be harvesting wonderful produce, I know I will be coming home tired and hungry every evening, and I know I will be spending time talking to the friends I have grown to love. I am surprised to find that this summer I am more excited for my ordinary days than my extraordinary ones.
