Farm Happenings for May 18, 2021

Posted on May 13th, 2021 by Will Nelson

CSA pickup details for Tuesday are listed below. But first, some updates from our fields and pastures....

This is a busy time of year at the farm. The greenhouses are starting to produce crops and we already have 4 fields planted. The crew has been hard at working keeping the greenhouses weeded, planting crops in the field, and doing a lot of hoeing. As the students finish the semester we slowly have a smaller and smaller crew. Luckily, within the next two weeks we will have the majority of our summer crew on board and ready to work. Next week we are scheduled to put our first heat-loving crops in the ground: tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, and squash. Summer is almost here!

We are excited for the CSA to start and to begin harvesting for you again! We are looking forward to sharing with you the abundance of spring and summer crops to come.

Tuesday Farm Pickup

This year, our CSA will continue as a curbside pickup.  Each week, your CSA share will be located on the front porch of the barn, under the overhang.

To safely retrieve your CSA share, please pull into the farm following the "Enter" sign located on the West side of the corn crib, then continue around the corn crib as if exiting the farm. Pull your car up along the southwest corner of the barn (to the front porch of the barn). See map for details.

You will see a sign welcoming you to please get out of your car to retrieve your share. Farm staff will place additional instructions to help you through the process.  Please do not idle at the CSA share pick up table since other CSA members may be waiting in their cars behind yours.

You may also park your car at the farm parking lot and walk to the front of the barn to retrieve your CSA share.

We aim to make the farm curbside pickup run as smoothly and as safely as possible. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to send them our way (farm@dickinson.edu).
