Farm Happenings for December 11, 2020

Posted on December 7th, 2020 by Will Nelson

The weather is finally getting cool while the season is winding down. It’s been a quiet week with zero student farmers and apprentices on site. The core crew has banded together, yet again to toe the line until the seasons closes. It is sad to see it come to an end but the new year will bring a new season and a new bounty for all.

This is the last week for our CSA for the season! The abundance of veggies we were able to share with our members this year, was a delight for all of us here on the farm. We’ve decided to try something new and start winter farm stand, using Harvie to list items we have for sale. Stay tuned to see what we will have available!!

The Lower Barn is all ablaze this time of year, making gift boxes with our delicious canned goods! I have a workshop station set up and it feels very much like I’m Santa’s helper, when I spend my afternoons packing box after box, with our farm made goods. It is always a satisfying time of year to see the fruits of my labor go to so many family and friends, that will enjoy the products we’ve spent hours creating. This year we’ve designed a new store to sell our boxes and it has streamlined our process. Fingers crossed, but I think this will be our most successful year to date. There is still time to place an order, if you haven’t already! Also, we still have individual item for sale at our market stand, each week at Farmers on the Square!

This is the last week of work for many of us and I want to say what a pleasure it was for me to greet each of you on Tuesdays and put faces to names! Have a safe and happy holiday season with your loved ones! Can’t wait to see you all again next year when the weather is warm and the bounty is plentiful.

-Cheers
