Farm Happenings for September 18, 2020

Posted on September 14th, 2020 by Will Nelson

TGI.. friday? Whew! We’re already at the end of another week at the farm, time really does fly quickly here when there are so many veggies to harvest, fall fields to prepare, garlic heads to process, and animals to care for :->. There’s been a lot of reminiscing this past week at the farm, reflecting on all the sweet moments of summer. Abundant strawberry harvests, 90F+ days, quick dips in the creek— they feel so fleeting now, as our cool-loving brassica plants mature, we finish transplanting for the season, and Pumpkin Spice flavor starts showing up on local restaurant menus!

Also this week, two steers were sent to the butcher for processing, three of the apprentices began tractor training with Matt, and 6 rows of strawberry plants were planted for next year using our handy transplanter (see photo below for one of our student farmers on the transplanter!)
