Friday CSA: Dickinson College Farm Field Notes for Week of July 1st

Posted on June 28th, 2019 by Jenn Halpin

Hello Friday CSA Members!

Please be sure to customize your share for the upcoming week by Sunday night.

Next week's pick-up will be on WEDNESDAY, JULY 3rd at Project SHARE (noon to 6:30pm)

If you do not personally customize your share each week, Harvie will instruct farm staff to build your share based on the preferences that you listed at the start of the CSA season. If you wish to modify what you receive on a weekly basis, all you have to do is customize your share. For a quick tutorial on how to maximize your share, please go to:

FIELD NOTES...

This week brought hot temperatures and lots of sunshine to the farm (thank goodness!). With these conditions the crew was able to accomplish a lot, such as transplanting in the fields, trellising tomatoes, and the daily harvest of zucchini, summer squash and cucumbers. The crew took their first field trip of the summer on Thursday afternoon to Keswick Creamery, where they helped make the first batch of cheddar cheese of the year! This cheddar should be ready in August so be sure to try some at market! The crew was excited to get their hands dirty (with cheese rather than dirt) and learn about the cheese-making process firsthand.

See you in July!

Pick-Your-Own Flowers!

Starting next week we invite you to peruse our cut flower garden located adjacent to the main parking area at the farm. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful July 4th!
Come and root us on at Anything That Floats on Thursday at the Children's Lake in Boiling Springs!
