Welcome to the Spring 2019 Share season!

Posted on May 1st, 2019 by Daybreak Growers Alliance

Hey folks!

We've made it through the winter, and things are finally starting to warm up out there. We could not be more excited to begin this season of shares! We've got some awesome spring greens, root veggies & *fiddleheads* available this week - there's plenty of fiddleheads to go around, so feel free to add on some extras for pickling, if you so desire. Lots of great local meat available this week, too- organic chicken will make an appearance towards the end of the month!

This is our first week working with Harvie to offer customized shares, which we are so thrilled about. We know it's a bit of an adjustment for folks who've had shares with us before, so feel free to reach out if you need any assistance!

Here are some things you should know about the first delivery:

-Shares are delivered in reusable plastic totes that have your name & shares on it's label- bring a bag or cooler with you to take your items home in, and leave your tote at the pickup site.

-Meat is packed in a separate bag (also with your name on it!) so don't forget to grab it!

-You'll have until Friday at 2pm to swap items in your shares or add things on.

We hope you enjoy eating your shares as much as we enjoy growing them!

News from New Beat!

After a late start, we finally broke ground this week,  Ken and the team plowed up a half acre field that we will soon be planting our first field crops of the season in next week. Beets, Peas, Lettuces, Kale, Chard will all finally find their home in the soil next week. Our tunnels are filled with vibrant salad greens and young sweet pea seedings.
Smelling the tomato leaves as I brushed up against them in the sunny greenhouse today watering, I could almost imagine it was July! We will be planting these out in our protected high tunnel this week, interplanted with lettuces and basil. You can dream of your first tomato, basil caprese sometime mid-July!
We are excited about the the season ahead! This is the season of potential, when all the years efforts lie ahead of us and we can put our best foot (and hopes) forward to meet the potential of the soil, hands, and hearts that will make this season a success. Can’t wait to spend the season with all of you an share our farms bounty with your families!
