Farm Happenings 3/7/22: PFAS Emergency Relief Fund / Update from Abraham's Creamery

Posted on February 28th, 2022 by Daybreak Growers Alliance
Dear Friends,

Maine Farmers need our help!

Maine Farmland Trust and the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) have launched a new PFAS Emergency Relief Fund to support farmers impacted by potential PFAS contamination.

The relief fund has three primary purposes:
• To provide short-term income replacement for farms that the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) has identified as having high test results.

• To help pay for initial PFAS testing on farms that choose to do their own testing.

• To support access to mental health services for impacted farmers.

Update from Abraham's Creamery

Abraham's Creamery is happy to announce our full roll out of Grass-fed Jersey milk products! Kefir, Quark, Panir, Yogurts and Feta.

We are a farmstead goat farm and creamery. Unlike our bovine friends, our caprine girls are seasonal breeders meaning Jan-March is focused on their pregnancy not their milk. So while we all wait, enjoy these golden yellow Jersey milk products! Quark is a lactic fresh cheese made with Jersey cow milk. It's very similar to our Chevre. Smooth and spreadable or could be crumbled on a salad.

Another new product for Daybreak Grower's Alliance customers is our very own wood fired frozen pizzas. We only choose the best ingredients! Buffalo Mozzarella, for one, steps it up a notch. Lou has created these pizzas with a cross between Neapolitan and NY style pizzas. A definite must have, they are very easy to pop in your oven or heat in slices on the grill!
