Farm Happenings for July 2, 2019

Posted on June 28th, 2019 by Daybreak Growers Alliance

Summer is Here!

Our Mid-summer Season starts this week! Lots of fresh greens, herbs, the first cucumbers of the season, and strawberries will be offered this week. Don’t forget you can log into your account and rearrange deliveries if you’ll be away on vacation or if you have multiple shares and want them to arrive in the same delivery or have them alternate weekly. Let us know if you need any assistance with this.

Crooked Face Creamery

Crooked Face Creamery, owned by Amy Rowbottom, specializes in cold smoked cheeses - including the applewood smoked Ricotta, and an aged gouda-style cheese. Amy makes a variety of herbed fresh and aged cheeses for her local farmers market in Skowhegan. All cheeses are made with local milk from Springdale Farm, a family farm for over 100 years. They milk jersey cows and deliver the milk to her fresh every week. You can’t make great cheese without great milk! Daybreak Growers Alliance is happy to help deliver her products to you in our shares!!

Amy is about to embark on a scale up and move to the Somerset Grist Mill in Skowhegan, home of Maine Grains and The Miller’s Table, among a few other local businesses. The new location will have a small retail area, as well as a complete production facility. The new equipment and facility will allow her to distribute out of state and to larger markets. Stay tuned for the grand opening date!

There’s a great video on Amy’s home page about her love for what she does, check it out!
