Farm Happenings the week of June 17th

Posted on June 13th, 2019 by Daybreak Growers Alliance

June is well underfoot and us farmers have been grateful for the change in the weather, which has allowed us to finally get our fields planted after such a cold wet spring. It's hard to believe it's already mid-June! The summer solstice is soon approaching and and although we all have been enjoying the abundance of spring greens my mind wanders to the first fresh snap pea, quart of strawberries, garlic scapes, cucumbers and squash soon to come! Our Spring shares are almost over, so be sure to sign up for our Mid-Summer Shares to ensure you get an uninterrupted supply of the summers bounty!

Our Summer Fruit shares have been delayed a week due to a late fruit set on the strawberries so you've got one more week to sign up for a delicious box of strawberries and rhubarb! You can learn more about all our share offerings on our website www.daybreakgrowersalliance.com/products.

We are excited that this is the first week of the season of Flower Shares from Belladonna Floral! These first bouquets of certified organic flowers will be a mix of the first sweet pea blossoms, ranunculus, bachelor buttons and other bright early season flowers. If you've missed out on order them this week you can still sign up for this great add on share or choose to purchase flowers week to week when you customize your share boxes.

As we welcome all these new crops coming out of the fields we are sorry to say goodbye to a great part of our Daybreak Team. Our membership manager Sofia Harjung will be leaving us to spend more time with her growing son Esker and we will miss her. I know she has been a great helping hand to many of you, answering your share questions and getting you signed up this season. Our new Membership Manager Lynn Pussic, will be starting this week, and is there to help you with any questions you may have. Be sure to check out next weeks farm happenings to be introduced to her!

Have a great week! -Your Daybreak Farmers
