2023 CSA Week 18

D&V Organics CSA

Week 18

Our field tomatoes have been increasing in productivity now that all the rain has subsided, however keeping up with harvesting them is a continual challenge.  This week we'll be including campari tomatoes, mixed cherry and heirloom tomatoes in our weekly inventory.  Unfortunately, this week will be the last for watermelons, galia and cantaloupe, which will make another brief appearance.  We have enjoyed this year's melon season, but as the weather cools down in September we do notice that the flavor suffers a little bit too.  Over the years, we've experimented with growing melons well into September, some years the weather is warm, but the flavor still isn't quite what it is in July and August.  This week is supposed to be a hot one, but the days are getting shorter and the nights cool as we move further into the month, so we'll pick them one last time and call it a wrap.

Enjoy,

Derek and Crew
