D&V Organics CSA

Week 1

We have been plugging away here at the farm since February and it is satisfying to finally be getting back into harvest mode.  The start of the season is always filled with a lot of anticipation, as we go through the process of receiving supplies, preparing the fields and growing everything from seed.  The weather has been cooperating for the most part, which makes the transition back into the busy season a lot more tolerable.  For myself and the crew, we have a seasonal rhythm to our workflow each year.  From February and into March, we are confined to the greenhouses, growing our crops from seed and tending to tiny plants as they grow to a size appropriate for the field.  In April, we continue seeding work in the greenhouses, while rapidly clearing plants out of the greenhouses that are ready to be planted into the fields.  Here we are in May, we begin our harvest season and simultaneously continue greenhouse work and planting a continuous supply of produce in the fields.  Farming is an exciting endeavor, very dynamic but occasionally predictable, it is fun and challenging at the same time.  We look forward to producing a constant supply of vegetables to fill your boxes, and thank you for joining us for another exciting year!

Enjoy,

Derek and Crew
