Farm Happenings for April 25, 2024

Posted on April 22nd, 2024 by Grady Seale

Even though a cool front has moved through now the warmer weather has our first plot of squash and zucchini growing quickly! It won't be long before we are harvesting and adding to yalls boxes! It seems like every year the wait for new season crops takes forever to get here, but I always know the squash bomb is coming, where all the plants just flourish and produce more than normal. We usually end up donating about three to four hundred pounds to local food banks when it happens, which makes the both of us happy. Tomatoes and eggplants are growing and starting to look like they will be blooming soon, I know yall are ready as am I. We got some more pepper plants in the ground over the weekend and cleaned up all strawberry bushes so hopefully we will see them bounce back and be in your boxes once again. Its always tough this time of year with berries because they look great when we pick and pack them but by the time they get to your table they could have turned, just part of farming. Enjoy this cooler weather as it could possibly be the last of it for a while.
